About Ocean Hackathon

Ocean Hackathon® – Innovate for Ocean Preservation

Ocean Hackathon® is an exhilarating 48-hour challenge where multidisciplinary teams come together to develop innovative solutions for ocean preservation. Participants gain exclusive access to vast marine databases and receive expert guidance from experienced mentors and industry professionals.

Several months before the event, a Call for Challenges is launched to gather impactful project proposals from participating location. During the hackathon, teams collaborate to tackle these real-world challenges using digital tools and cutting-edge technologies. The event culminates in a weekend where teams compete, and the selection of a winning team from each participating city, who will advance to the Grand Finale in Brest, France for a chance to win prizes from our Ocean Hackathon® Ambassadors.

Since its inception in 2016, Ocean Hackathon® has grown into a global movement, bringing together ocean enthusiasts, data scientists, developers, engineers, and entrepreneurs. What started in Brest has now expanded internationally, fostering a dynamic community dedicated to leveraging data for marine conservation.

Organised by Campus Mondial de la Mer, Ocean Hackathon® promotes collaboration, digital innovation, and an entrepreneurial mindset. By repurposing marine and maritime data, teams unlock new possibilities for sustainable ocean solutions. Our data providers not only enhance accessibility but also guide participants in making sense of complex datasets.

Join us for a fun and impactful weekend! Meet like-minded innovators, push the boundaries of technology, and contribute to a sustainable future for our oceans.
